Helping parents understand how children are affected by separation and parental conflict
For the Kids’ Sake parenting seminars are provided through a contract with Snohomish County Superior Court to satisfy a mandatory requirement for all parents involved in divorce, paternity or custody proceedings. The purpose of this seminar is to help parents understand how children are affected by separation and parental conflict. View seminar schedule.
- How to protect my child from parental conflict
- How to recognize when divorce and separation is affecting my child
- How to communicate better with the other parent
- How to get further help if I or my child needs it
Our facilitators have at least a masters degree and have extensive experience helping children and families with difficulties related to separation and divorce.
Upon completion of the seminar, you will receive a certificate which is to be given to your attorney for filing with the court (or if acting pro se, you must file it yourself). There is no fee to file a certificate.
You must pre-register by mail.
For the Kids’ Sake seminars are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration is encouraged, especially if your work schedule requires requesting time off. You must pre-register by mail. Registration closes 72 hours prior to seminar, so please mail your registration as soon as possible.
Effective October 1, our mailing address is: For the Kids’ Sake, 4422 Forest Drive, Everett, WA 98203.
No money is collected on site,
Obtain a money order or cashier’s check, payable to For the Kids’ Sake, proof of income (if needed) and submit with your registration form. The fee for the class is on a sliding scale based on net monthly income. Net income is determined by deducting taxes and social security from your gross income.
Please refer to the registration form for seminar fee schedule. If you pay less than the full $150 fee, you must send in verification that you fall within the income bracket used. Verification of one month’s income is sufficient. It can include pay stubs, child support checks, welfare or DSHS paperwork, unemployment or disability paperwork, or a signed, hand-written financial declaration if you have no income.
Each parent must submit a completed registration form. You will be scheduled to attend a seminar separate from the other parent, unless both parents submit a written statement requesting joint attendance.
Class dates and locations vary each week.
