Annual Gathered for Good Luncheon brings community together in support of hope, healing, and service

Oct 13, 2026

On Saturday, October 10, community members, partners, supporters, members of local congregations, and friends gathered at The Boxcar Room for our annual Gathered for Good Luncheon.

Throughout the event, emcee and Mental Health Clinician, Po, encouraged guests to reflect on what it means to truly “gather for good” and highlighted the many ways community members can make a difference through service, advocacy, generosity, and human connection.

Attendees were moved by testimonies from partners who help support our mission. Rev. Betsey Moe shared their personal experience being a foster parent in our Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) Foster Care Program.

Their story offered an intimate look into the joys, challenges, and impact of welcoming a refugee youth into their home. With honesty and grace, Betsey spoke about building relationships across cultures, supporting a young person as they adjust to life in a new country, and witnessing the incredible growth and successes of these youth as they work toward their goals.

Guests also heard from Chief Advancement Office, Joy Giovanini, who shared updates about the organization’s work and the growing impact of community support. Spokane District Director, Shelly Hahn, offered a local perspective on the district’s mission and impact, speaking about the breadth of services available in the community as well as the impact she sees daily in the team members she supports.

Another highlight of the afternoon was presenting two special community awards recognizing congregations whose partnership and dedication have made a lasting impact. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church was presented with the Light in the Community Award, recognizing their support of LCSNW’s mission. Redeemer Lutheran Church received the Hands of Grace Award for their exceptional spirit of service and unwavering generosity.

Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of the luncheon was found in the conversations that took place around every table. Friends connected, new relationships were formed, and supporters shared a common purpose rooted in care for their community.

The Boxcar Room provided a welcoming space for fellowship and reflection, while A Catered Affair helped bring people together around good food and good company.

The true heart of this luncheon was the community itself; individuals united by a belief that every person deserves dignity, support, and the opportunity to thrive. Together, they gathered for good, and in doing so, helped strengthen a community where hope, compassion, and belonging continue to flourish.
