The Outpatient Mental Health (OPMH) program is a less intensive option designed to provide timely access to mental health support for youth up to age 21. Our team of therapists, psychiatric prescribers, and case managers provides compassionate, evidence-based care. Skilled therapists utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and play therapy for younger clients. Access to medication management, therapy, and case management services.

We understand the importance of finding the right medications to support mental health. Our team of licensed nurse practitioners, behavioral health counselors, and mental health clinicians are dedicated to providing quality psychiatric care for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma disorders, and more. Coordination with your therapist or care team to develop personalized treatment plans. Convenient access to in-person and telehealth appointments. No referrals needed.

Local students have access to on-site counseling and crisis support through our School Based Mental Health program. In collaboration with Richland School District, we place mental health clinicians and case managers at multiple school buildings to break down barriers to care, reduce stigma, and ensure that students have the tools and resources they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Students can self-refer, parents can request services, or school staff can make recommendations for services.

We proudly offer Mental Health First Aid trainings to adults 18 and older. This training equips participants with the skills needed to reach out and provide initial support to either youth or adults who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use problem and connect them to appropriate care.

NBCC approved continuing education provider. Lutheran Community Services Northwest has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7689. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Lutheran Community Services Northwest is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Services provided via closed programs for defined participants: Our services for counseling and mental health include a partnership with the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center to provide mental health care for youth in detention. LCSNW staff support youth in processing trauma, managing mental health challenges, and developing skills for positive growth.

When other strategies haven’t worked, it’s time to try WISe. Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe) equips families with the skills to manage the stress and complexities of having a child with mental and behavioral health challenges. An intensive mental health program, WISe is designed to support youth and their families by strengthening relationships, promoting wellness, and enhancing safety at home and in the community. We serve children and adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home placement. Using a team-based approach with the family’s voice at the center, WISe includes care coordination, therapy (individual, family or group), peer support and medication management.

Stabilization and Wellness in Families Together (SWIFT) provides short-term, intensive support for youth experiencing a mental health crisis who are at risk of hurting themselves or others. SWIFT allows young people to seek the support they need while helping them stabilize and avoid hospitalization.

Services include:

• Creation of individualized crisis plans and 24/7 crisis support
• Access to psychiatric evaluation and medication management as needed
• Connection to other community resources and supportive services
• Referrals to longer-term programs and continued mental health care

The mission of NextGen Leaders is to empower youth voices, foster community support, and develop youth-led initiatives to create a safer and healthier community for teenagers and young adults. If you are between the age of 16-21 and living in Benton or Franklin County, join NextGen! Foster an inclusive community, plan and participate in new initiatives, strengthen support systems, and share your voice around topics such as mental health, local services, and community resource availability. NextGen Leaders meets on the 4th Tuesday of every Month from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Richland Public Library, Conference Room A (955 Northgate Dr, Richland, WA 99352).
