Our Approach

We’re committed to helping eligible individuals and families access safe, affordable housing, whether for one night or long-term.

We use a variety of resources, including case management, rent assistance, day center services, and supportive housing services.

Compass Housing Alliance, which became a Division of Lutheran Community Services Northwest in 2026, has expanded our housing services greatly. Compass provides day services, emergency shelters, and affordable housing at 20 Puget Sound area locations.

Our Core Services

  • Emergency shelter and affordable housing for men, women, veterans, and families who are low-income or experiencing homelessness in King and Pierce counties
  • Housing search and case management
  • Case management and rent assistance to prevent homelessness
  • Housing Stabilization Services for refugees and humanitarian parolees
  • Youth-led and culturally specific outreach to youth and young adults

  • Our housing services are growing Through LCSNW's 2026 merger with Compass Housing Alliance, we have become a major provider of housing that's affordable and available to income-eligible families and individuals. Compass' options include independent living for seniors and veterans, supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals, and affordable apartments for low-income and working-class households.
  • Services vary depending on where you live Housing & Emergency Shelter services are offered in select communities in the Greater Puget Sound area. Availability varies by location and is designed to reflect local needs.
  • We meet people where they are Care is grounded in dignity and respect for each person’s lived experience. Services are delivered at your pace, with staff working alongside you over time—not just through one‑time appointments.
  • Some services are low-cost or no-cost Many services are available at little or no cost, while others may include fees. We'll clearly explain any costs up front, before services begin.
