As students across the region headed back to school, LCSNW’s Greater Puget Sound District brought families and community partners together at Back-to-School Resource Fairs in SeaTac and Port Angeles. Both events provided students with essential school supplies while connecting families with resources, services, and community support.
SeaTac Back-to-School Resource Fair
LCSNW welcomed local families to our SeaTac Back-to-School Resource Fair, where more than 1,250 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to local students.
Families also had the opportunity to connect with 38 community providers who shared information and resources to help families access local services and support. The Rotary Club of SeaTac-Tukwila provided food for attendees, including halal options to help ensure everyone could participate and enjoy the event.
The fair was made possible through the generous financial sponsorship of Molina Healthcare, along with the time and dedication of LCSNW staff and volunteers from across the organization.
The City of SeaTac also shared positive feedback about how welcoming and supportive LCSNW staff and volunteers were with community members. Their kindness and enthusiasm helped create an event where families felt valued and connected.
Port Angeles Back-to-School Resource Fair
In Port Angeles, the Back-to-School Resource Fair was the culmination of a community-wide effort to help local students prepare for the new school year. In the weeks leading up to the event, the Stuff the Bus campaign collected generous donations of school supplies and financial gifts from community members and supporters.
Thanks to the support of community partners—including the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles, and Port Angeles School District—653 backpacks were distributed to local students. Families also connected with 28 partner agencies offering resources and information.
The event provided a variety of services and activities, including 102 haircuts, 95 vision screenings, immunizations, school supplies for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, a clothing bank, face painting, and a BBQ lunch enjoyed by 768 people.
The event was also powered by an incredible volunteer effort, with 72 volunteers contributing 252 hours of service to support local students and families.
Supporting students and families
From collecting school supplies and distributing backpacks to connecting families with community resources, both fairs demonstrated the impact of neighbors, partners, donors, staff, and volunteers working together.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make these events possible and supported local students as they began the new school year with the supplies, resources, and encouragement they need to learn and thrive.
