Safe Families for Children
Respite care for children
Safe Families for Children creates extended family–like supports for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by faith to keep children safe and keep families intact.
Host families and support networks are established on a volunteer basis through local faith-based communities. Support roles range from providing meals, diapers or other essentials for host families to serving as a life-coach for struggling parents.
In 2017, our Yamhill County Safe Families program provided 494 nights of respite care to 20 children. Our networks exist to support families in crisis while they get back on their feet.
Safe, short-term respite care for your children
Any family with children ages newborn to 18 experiencing a temporary crisis such as loss of income, loss of home, incarceration, domestic violence or other circumstances can seek assistance.
Community members who wish to host children, or be a part of the support network, are encouraged to volunteer! Volunteers must pass a background check.
