Restorative Justice Trainings and Other Opportunities

Volunteers Fulfill Key Roles in the Practice of Restorative Justice

We work with volunteers who fill two types of roles within our program. Volunteer facilitators play a critical role by representing the community and empowering people impacted by and responsible for wrongdoing.

Another way volunteers support this work is by serving as surrogates, who perform a crucial role when the direct victim of harm is unable or unwilling to participate in the dialogue. To do the work of a surrogate, the volunteer must have experienced a similar type of harm or have a close connection to someone who has. Their involvement helps provide a meaningful and empathetic perspective to the responsible party by facilitating a deeper understanding of the impact of their actions.

If you are interested in applying to work as a surrogate, follow this link to our intake form. And this explainer goes into detail about restorative justice surrogacy with PCJP.

We offer training for people interested in volunteering for our program. Stay tuned for information about our next training or contact us [email protected] for details.
