To reduce the spread of COVID-19, we made the difficult decision to change our 8 Lakes Leg Aches Bike Ride to a Virtual event this year. While we may not be able to ride together and be social as a large group, we can still be a community of cyclists pedaling for a purpose and sharing our ride with each other using the #8lakes hashtag.
- Register for the ride. Each registered rider receives a Goody Bag with snacks, water, Gatorade, a certificate for 2-slices of David’s Pizza, and any swag you purchase.
- Plan your route. Since we’re not gathering in Spokane, the sky’s the limit! You can cycle around the block, around town, on rural roads, on a favorite trail, or in the comfort of your living room on a trainer. You can also ride one of our 8 Lakes routes. It’s your choice.
- Enjoy your ride anytime between July 11 and July 18.
- Document and share your ride on social media. Be sure to use the #8lakes hashtag so we can enjoy it with you!
- Join us for a Facebook Live Finish Line activity on July 18.

A few climbing hills. Coming back, riders enjoy a 4-mile paved off-road trail from Cheney to Fish Lake on the Fish Lake Trail.
A few climbing hills. Riders pass Willow, Granite (look for the turtles), Silver, Medical, Clear and Fish Lakes.
The same route as the 45-mile riders until Cheney, then the route heads toward Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. There are several rolling hills once you turn toward Chapman and Kepple Lakes.
RIDE SUPPORT: SAG support volunteers, medical support and ARES/HAM Radio are provided on each route. Routes are marked on the roadway and traffic control is provided for major intersections.
HELMETS REQUIRED: Riders must follow WA State Bicycle Laws. When riding on a roadway, a cyclist has all the rights and responsibilities of a vehicle driver (RCW 46.61.755). Cyclists who violate traffic laws may be ticketed (RCW 46.61.750).
We LOVE pledge riders! You truly help support our mission with your generous financial support. Our goal is to raise $80,000 to benefit the vital programs of LCS Northwest, including the Sexual Assault & Family Trauma (SAFeT) Response Center. Proceeds from the bike ride help us to continue delivering the highest quality of service to our community, while not only providing ongoing support, but also creating new opportunities of hope to those in our community who turn to our agency in their time of need.
Two ways to collect pledge donations:
Raise $200 to receive: 8 Lakes designer jersey, T-shirt and socks.
Pledge riders raising $300 or more will receive additional prizes!
We truly appreciate your amazing support! Lutheran Community Services Northwest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible.
