As a multi-state agency that provides critical services to vulnerable people, we are monitoring the spread of COVID-19 closely. The situation has changed how we help people, and that will evolve as conditions change across our region.

Most importantly, if you are a client and feel ill, do not come to our offices. Please contact your office and let us know how you are doing. We will work with you to reschedule your appointment or find alternative ways to provide services.

The district most affected by COVID-19 right now is North Puget Sound (NPS) with offices in King and Snohomish Counties. Employees in four NPS programs are working with clients over the telephone. Other measures, such as social distancing, are being used in different situations.

In our South Puget Sound District in Pierce County, our clients are mostly seniors. Few clients are coming to our offices, and that is a healthy trend that needs to continue. We are in communication with homecare clients and workers about their concerns. Our Meals on Wheels program is making sure clients remain healthy.

The spread of COVID-19 has yet to impact other districts in Oregon and Washington as much, but people are anxious and nervous. Where needed, we are enacting measures to have employees work from home. We are looking at ways, such as teleconferencing, to provide critical services for clients with immediate needs.
